New for 2009: The miniHome 12WIDE

By: Johnny Hartsfield

From the makers of SOLO comes miniHome’s new 12WIDE - a recreational vehicle (Park Model Trailer) measuring 12′x33′ and costing only $119,000.  At 392 square feet, the movable 12WIDE offers the possibility for year-round affordable living on almost any site.  What makes this product different than standard “mobile homes” is its remarkable combination of energy efficient systems and beautiful finishes.  The 12WIDE uses 1/10th the water, fuel and materials, and 1/50th the electrical energy as compared to a conventional home.

Additional features include: multi-tasking furniture and millwork, intelligent controls, silent appliances, warm-white LED lighting, centralized rainwater collection, and optional solar, wind and composting.  This small footprint modular home also keeps construction waste, shipping costs and energy to a minimum.

minHome has had the 12WIDE in development for almost 3 years.  The result is not just one design, but 14 new modules that can configure in hundreds of different ways for an endless assortment of living options.  These spacious and flexible floor plans will be posted on their website in the coming weeks.  Manufactured in Canada, the new 12WIDE can be easily shipped to any destination in North America, and parked on most sites.  This is the future of mobile living.
